Busy, Busy Day
Preschool Poetry

Inside my bed it's cozy
And soft and warm and rosy
Outside my bed it's chilly
Leaving this bed seems silly
***
Snap or crackle, pop or crunch
Crunchy cereal's fun to munch
Red or yellow, blue or brown
Scoop it up and chomp it down
If it gets soggy and wet
Feed it quickly to your pet
***
I've got porridge
On my fingers
I've got porridge
On my toes
On my chin and
On my cheeks and
Some is even
On my nose
On my arms and
Legs and shoulders
On my hair and
On my knee
Porridge, porridge
Everywhere
But none of it went
Inside me
***
Splitter-spatter
Mix some batter
Pour it in a pan
Cook it, tip it
Try to flip it
Any way you can
Cover it up
With sweet syrup
Serve it on a plate
Yummy, yummy
In the tummy
Doesn't that taste great?

Little shoes on little feet
Safely buckled in the seat
Here we go now down the street
We're going for a drive
Windows down and ruffled hair
Looking here and looking there
Take us, take us, anywhere
We're going for a drive
Trucks and buses, boats and planes
Helicopters, cars, and trains
See the diggers, see the cranes
We're going for a drive
Red light stop and green light go
Yellow light means slow, slow, slow
Sunshine, rain, or fog or snow
We're going for a drive

Here's a rainbow that we made
Using only groceries
With some Eggplants
And some Plums
And a box of Blueberries
Fresh green Spinach
Yellow Squash
Oranges And
Red Cherries
Here's a rainbow that we made
Using only groceries

It's time to learn
Our ABCs
And count by ones
And twos and threes
We'll dot the dots
We'll do a maze
We'll learn to draw
We'll try to trace
We'll use a pen
We'll use a chalk
And when we paint
We'll wear a smock
With scissors, paper
Crayon, glue
Our craftwork will look
Bright and new
We'll learn about
Mammals and birds
We'll learn new facts
We'll learn new words
We'll play with globes
We'll look at maps
When music plays
We'll dance and clap
We'll practice how
To be polite
Learn what is safe
And what is right
We'll look at clocks
And tell the time
Play rhyming games
With words that rhyme
We'll act a play
Pretend and sing
It's time to learn
Let's learn new things

Shampoo, shampoo in my hair
I'll close my eyes and bid you bye
You're ok when you're way up there
But I don't want you in my eye
***
Though sometimes I'll sit in the
bathtub
And sometimes I'll stand in the shower
The shower will never last too long
While a tub bath can last for an hour
Though the shower has no soapy bubbles
And the tub bath has no sprinkling spray
Both have plenty of water for splashing
And for making big messes all day
While a shower feels just like its raining
In the bathtub it feels like the sea
With duckies and boats, and dolphins and whales
It'll always be tub baths for me

Goodbye daylight, goodnight day
Dusk and dark are on their way
Shy moon peeking through the trees
Lullabies blow in the breeze
Stars are twinkling in the sky
Dreams are twinkling in my eye
Till the morning comes this way
Goodbye daylight, goodnight day
