The painting is titled "Eve of Destruction" and you can see the influences of classic sci fi, hindu mythology, 1950's retro hopefulness, the tension between light and darkness, between the good and bad sides of technology, and the idea of peace hovering at the brink of chaos...
Working at a larger scale involves using bigger brushes and allowing yourself to be looser and more expressive. I had a lot of fun with this painting. Here it is, along with a few process shots:
